Funky Fella!
He's a mover, a groover
and just watch him shake it all about! Kavana slips
into his dancing pants and hits the light fantastic with L&K...
How long does it take you to get ready?
It depends. If I'm going out with my mates then only about 15 minutes,
but if I'm going out somewhere special then probably
about an hour. I'll have a proper shower, splash on a bit of aftershave,
put the music on and do a bit of warm-up dancing.
Talk us through your 'proper' shower routine...
Well actually to tell the truth, I haven't got a shower at home so
when I'm staying in hotels I really go for it. I always leave it
running for about 10 minutes so its just the right temperature, jump
in and soap up, working my way from bottom to top! Oh
and I always place a towel on the floor> There's nothing worse than
a cold bathroom floor.
Do you ever have a crisis about what clothes to wear?
Oh yeah definitely. I'm not very colour co-ordinated you see so I usually
just go for a black 'cause you can't go wrong.
Do you take ages checking yourself in the mirror before you leave
the house?
No not really. I don't think I'm particularly vain.
You must realise you're good looking though...
Well, I know I'm alright but I still don't see myself as fantastic.
At school I wasn't very popular until I was about 12 or 13. The
only people that fancied me were the really weird types. All the nice
girls wanted a big macho boy and I was a little puny type.
Do you get any hassle when you go out on the town?
Occasionally. I was out in Manchester and this guy came over and said,
'You're Kavana aren't you?' Then went away again to
chat to his mates. Later he came back and said, 'You're record's rubbish,'
and I just said, 'Oh OK, at least you're honest'.
Normally it's great though 'cause the girls are all giggly and the
lads shake my hand and say, 'Well done mate!'
How far do you have to go to hide your wild behaviour from the papers?
Well I can't be out with the boys all the time partying and going mad.
I have to remember I do have a certain image to preserve.
But it doesn't bother me 'cause I've never been a total yobbo anyway.
Are you really keen to be seen as squeaky clean?
No! I just want to be myself. I want to be normal.
So, you're a slick mover on the dance floor?
(Looks a bit puzzled) I like to think so yeah, 'cause I love a bit
of boogie. There have been occasions when I've been let loose
on the dance floor twizzlin' and twirlin' all over the place and many
mornings when I've woken up and thought, 'Oh what was I
doing? Why was I dancing on the bar?'
Have you got a girlfriend at the moment?
I've got friends who are girls and there's about one or two who I 'see'
but none of them on a regular basis but there's nothing
major going on. I'm not going to pretend I'm a saint though. I do go
out and enjpy myself but you do have to be really careful
'cause there's always the risk of kiss 'n' tell stories appearing in
the papers.
Could you handle a celeb romance?
Oh yeah I think so. I'm not saying I'm going out with anyone famous
at the moment but I think I'm the kind of person who
doesn't get phased by celbrities especially now I get to meet them
all the time.
Who's the most famous person in your phone book?
Erm... 911! Oh and of course there's Madonna... in my dreams! I'm not
the sort of person who goes, 'Cor can I have your
phone number!' when I meet someone famous - it's embarassing. But if
Madonna's happy to give me her phone number, well,
that's a different matter!
