He's the newest babe with talent to burst out of the UK. Kavana (pronounced Kav-an-ah), is just 19 and he's already had massive success with three hot singles from his self-titled album in the UK and in Australia. He popped over recently to promote his album and visit his Oz relatives. He's a proud owner of a Kimberly Davies calendar his uncle sent him - "It's up on my bedroom wall," he says proudly!
Born and raised in Manchester (the same city as Take That and Oasis), Kav spent his early years getting down to Stevie Wonder, while his mum read his fortune in tea leaves. In fact, his whole career started with him being a tea-maker and message boy at the Take That offices - his first hit, Crazy Chance (remixed and re-released this month) was written by ex-TTer Howard Donald. "I was making tea but I was getting to see how the industry worked, too," says Kav.
Now Kav's third single, 'I Can Make You Feel Good', is a success. When I heard it was in the UK Top 10, Kav says "I did a somersault in the living room floor." And he's set to make us melt again with his ballad M.F.E.O. (Made For Each Other).
But all his success hasn't changed him. he still lives with his mum and hangs out with old mates. "I still do the dishes and feed the cat," he says. "I'm still me. Except the neighbours are looking at me from their doorsteps now." We love a cute pop babe with both feet firmly on the ground, so you were definitely made for us!
